The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea held its first official meeting with US Ambassador to South Korea Michelle Steel in Seoul on Thursday, discussing business conditions and ways to deepen bilateral trade and investment.
The meeting in Yeouido brought together executives from US companies operating across major industries in Korea.
Participants discussed challenges facing American businesses and stressed the importance of a predictable, globally aligned business environment to support continued operations and investment.
They also explored closer cooperation between the US Embassy and AmCham, including the Freedom 250 initiative and potential projects highlighting the US-Korea alliance and economic partnership.
“The ambassador’s willingness to listen to businesses early in her tenure underscores the important role US companies play in our economic partnership,” AmCham Chairman and CEO James Kim said. “AmCham will support US companies operating in Korea and promote greater bilateral trade and investment.”
Steel pledged to work with AmCham to address challenges facing American companies and identify new opportunities for economic growth.
AmCham said it would continue facilitating dialogue between US businesses and the Korean government while working to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
