Tiger Woods posts smooth swing video, fueling comeback speculation

Tiger Woods posted a video on social media showing his swing in apparent top form, fueling speculation over when the golf great might return to competition.

Golf Channel reported that Woods had shared footage of himself taking practice swings at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California.

The course hosted the TGR Junior Invitational, sponsored by Woods’ TGR Foundation, through Monday.

After the tournament, one of Woods’ social media accounts, TGR Live, posted a video of him practicing his swing with the caption, “Right where this swing belongs — back on your feed.”

Woods hosted the 60-player tournament and personally introduced competitors as they stepped onto the first tee.

A video of Woods introducing the players received more than 18,000 likes and 200 comments on TGR Live. Golf Channel said it drew more attention than any post on the account except footage last month of Woods hitting balls at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.

The latest video has renewed interest among golf fans over when Woods might return to competition.

Woods last competed in an official tournament at the British Open in July 2024, when he missed the cut after shooting 14 over par through two rounds.

His most recent public competition against professional players came in the second match of the TGL finals on March 25.

Three days later, Woods overturned his Range Rover while attempting to pass a truck near Jupiter Island, Florida. Alcohol tests were negative, but two white opioid painkiller pills were found in his pocket, and he was charged with driving under the influence.

Woods reached a plea agreement with prosecutors early last month on a lesser charge, effectively clearing the legal obstacle to a return to competition.

Golf publications have suggested Woods is most likely to return at one of the year-end exhibition events.

The Hero World Challenge, hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, will be held in the Bahamas from Dec. 4-7, making it a possible comeback event for Woods as tournament host.

He could also play in the PNC Championship, a family golf event in Orlando, Florida, on Dec. 20-21. Woods competed in the event with his son Charlie for five consecutive years through 2024.

Among official tournaments, the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational from Feb. 19-22 next year is considered another likely return event because Woods serves as tournament host.
