Stray Kids earn career-best Hot 100 debut with ‘This & That’

Stray Kids have reached new milestones on the Billboard charts, earning the group’s highest-ever Hot 100 ranking on Wednesday while extending their record-breaking run atop the Billboard 200 the day before.

According to Billboard’s charts released Wednesday, the group’s latest title track “This & That” from its 10th EP debuted at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Stray Kids’ highest placement on the main singles chart to date.

As of Tuesday, the EP simultaneously debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Stray Kids its ninth consecutive chart-topping album. With the achievement, the eight-member act has further extended the record for the most consecutive No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 by any K-pop artist. The streak began with 2022’s “Oddinary” and has continued through “5-Star,” “Rock-Star,” “Karma” and “Do It.”

The feat also places Stray Kids among the most successful groups in Billboard history. According to Billboard, the group now holds the second-most No. 1 albums among groups this century, trailing only The Beatles’ 19-chart toppers while tying The Rolling Stones with nine.

Released on Aug. 7, “This & That” features eight tracks centered on themes of confidence and forging one’s own path without being constrained by convention.

In reaction to the achievement, the members described the accomplishment as especially meaningful as it coincides with the group’s ninth year since debut.

“It almost feels like fate that we achieved our ninth Billboard 200 No. 1 record in our ninth year,” the group said through its agency JYP Entertainment. “As a team that sincerely loves music and hopes to give people positive energy through it, we are deeply honored to have reached this milestone. It carries even greater meaning as it represents the most No. 1 albums by a group in the 21st century.”

The members also credited their fans, Stay, for making the achievement possible.

“Above all, this wouldn’t have been possible without Stay, who have continued to support us,” they said. “Just as our name reflects our determination to forge our own path, we will continue to expand our own musical spectrum beyond conventional boundaries. Together with Stay, we hope to continue showing music fans around the world the limitless growth of both Stray Kids and K-pop.”

Elsewhere on this week’s Billboard charts, Jennie’s collaboration with Tame Impala, “Dracula,” remained at No. 8 on the Hot 100 for a 46th consecutive week, while Katseye’s “Animal” climbed five places to No. 30.

On the Billboard 200, BTS’ “Arirang” ranked No. 21, the soundtrack album to Netflix’s animated film “KPop Demon Hunters” placed No. 33, and Cortis’ “GreenGreen” came in at No. 110.
