Singer-turned-lawyer Lee So-eun will make her debut as a scriptwriter with “Battery Mommy,” a sequel to the hit production “Battery Daddy,” set to premiere in January 2027.
The musical, produced by NHN Link, continues the storyline of its predecessor, this time centering on the role of mothers within a family. The production combines fantasy and realistic elements and is built around themes of courage and family love.
Lee, who debuted as a singer in 1997 before becoming a lawyer, wrote the script drawing on her own experience as a parent and her professional background in law. Producers said the goal is a story intended to appeal to both children and adult audience members.
“When I read the original story, the story I wanted to tell through a musical took shape in my mind,” Lee said in the announcement. “This work is especially meaningful because it came together through the sincere effort of many people from start to finish. I hope it gives the whole family a chance to enjoy themselves together and rediscover the courage that lies within each of us.”
Director Hong Seung-hee and composer Park Sang-woo, who worked on “Battery Daddy,” return for the sequel, along with most of that production’s staff.
“Battery Mom” will run Jan. 2 through Feb. 28, 2027, at Ewha Womans University’s ECC Yeongsan Theater.
