LIV Golf cuts finale purse in half

LIV Golf has reduced the individual purse for its 2026 season-ending tournament in Indianapolis to about half the amount offered at its previous event.

Golf Digest reported Wednesday that LIV Golf’s media hub lists a $10.1 million total purse for the tournament beginning Friday, with the individual champion set to receive $2 million.

By comparison, the New York event that ended Aug. 11 offered $20 million in total prize money and $4 million to the winner.

The tournament at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Indiana, will now close the 2026 season following the cancellation of the team championship in Michigan, which had been scheduled for late August.

The reduced purse comes amid reports of financial pressure on LIV Golf following the loss of backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Reports have also raised questions about delayed player prize payments and outstanding payments to broadcast partners.
