Katseye follows intuition, embraces freedom in 3rd EP

Katseye returned Friday with its third EP, “Wild,” marking the latest chapter in the group’s artistic evolution since its debut two years ago.

The five-track release explores themes of embracing intuition, emotions and individuality while breaking free from expectations and societal norms, according to the group’s agency.

Leading the EP is lead track “Hootie Frutti,” a high-energy dance track built around Brazilian phonk-inspired percussion, punchy drum beats and pop production. The accompanying music video features carnival-inspired visuals, bold choreography and vibrant styling that reflects the song’s carefree spirit.

The EP also includes prerelease singles “Pinky Up” and “Animal,” alongside side tracks “Bel Air” and “That Way,” spanning various genres including dance-pop, EDM and synth-driven contemporary pop.

According to Hybe and Geffen Records, an array of internationally renowned songwriters and producers contributed to this project.

Hybe chairman Bang Si-hyuk composed and wrote the lyrics to “Pinky Up”; singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and producers Omer Fedi and Blake Slatkin composed and wrote the lyrics to “Animal”; and producers Patrik Berger and Johnny Goldstein composed and wrote the lyrics to “Bel Air” and “That Way.”

Expectations for the album have been building since the success of the group’s prerelease singles.

“Pinky Up” peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 14 on the UK Official Singles Chart, setting the group’s highest ranking on the British chart.

“Animal” continued the group’s momentum by debuting at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also climbed to No. 8 on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global chart and No. 5 on the platform’s Daily Top Songs Global chart, marking new career highs for the group.
