Koyote member Baekga is bringing the
summer heat with a brand-new digital single, ‘Beach Baby,’ dropping June 29 at
12 PM KST.
The track taps into a retro analog sound that channels the musical vibe of the
1970s, serving up pure midsummer energy. Korean music legend Kim Changwan lends
his vocals as a featured artist, while Kim Ganji (formerly of Sultan of the
Disco) handles drums and Lee Taeyoon (Boohwal, Songgolmae) plays bass. In a
heartwarming twist, Baekga’s own father Baek Youngpil picked up the guitar for
the recording.
What makes ‘Beach Baby’ stand apart is how it was made. The entire song was
recorded using a 100% analog reel method with vintage 1960s-70s equipment — no
digital recording at all. Both recording and mixing stayed on tape, with final
mastering done in Portland, USA, giving it that warm, full-bodied sound.
Fans of throwback summer tracks won’t want to miss this one.
