The highly anticipated romantic comedy drama ‘Sympathy Cell’ held its production
presentation on June 30, 2026, at The Saint in Guro-gu, Seoul. Lead actors Kim
Myung Soo , Kang Min Ah, and Kwon So Hyun
(4Minute), along with director Kim
Chil Bong, were present to introduce the series and share their experiences.
‘Sympathy Cell’ tells the story of Yoo Ji An (played by Kang Min Ah), a woman
who denies empathy, and Cha Eun Hwan (played by Kim Myung Soo), a man burdened
by it. Their worlds collide through a supernatural event called ’emotional
transference,’ forcing them to relearn emotions. The drama is set to premiere on
July 4, broadcasting on Lifetime, Disney+, and LG U+ Mobile.
Kim Myung Soo candidly discussed the challenges of portraying his character, Cha
Eun Hwan, a skilled psychological counselor. He revealed, “My MBTI is over 90% T
(Thinking type), but Eun Hwan is a very F (Feeling type) character who
empathizes deeply. It was difficult to understand at first, so I did more script
readings for this project than any other.” Director Kim Chil Bong praised Kim
Myung Soo’s systematic emotional portrayal and even playfully noted, “His
visuals have become even more handsome since our last project; I was surprised
every time I saw him on camera.”
Kang Min Ah, who plays an idol-turned-actress character, shared her preparation
process. She expressed relief that there were no dance scenes, but mentioned
needing to portray idol-specific greetings and atmosphere. She credited Kwon So
Hyun, a real-life former idol, for providing valuable guidance on these details.
Kwon So Hyun, in turn, humorously admitted to being “completely F” herself, but
found that playing a T-type character helped her simplify her thought process
for the role.
Director Kim Chil Bong expressed his long-standing admiration for Kang Min Ah,
stating, “I’ve been keeping an eye on her for a while. She has the glamorous
looks suitable for an idol character, and it’s not easy to act like someone who
can’t act well, which she did brilliantly.” He also highlighted the vibrant
chemistry between the lead actors, noting that Kim Myung Soo commented on their
great teamwork on set.
