Celltrion steps up European push for asthma drug Omlyclo

Celltrion has promoted its allergic asthma treatment Omlyclo at the European Respiratory Society Congress 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, stepping up efforts to expand the drug’s presence across Europe.

The ERS Congress is Europe’s largest respiratory medicine conference, bringing together healthcare professionals from around the world. Celltrion operated a standalone booth under the theme “Similar, but Different” to showcase Omlyclo, its omalizumab biosimilar.

The company highlighted the drug’s comparable efficacy and safety to the reference product, as well as its range of dosage and delivery options, including prefilled syringes and autoinjectors. It also emphasized Omlyclo’s storage stability and ease of use, which offer patients greater flexibility.

Visitors could try the delivery devices at the booth, which also featured an artificial intelligence-powered photo experience.

The congress hosted an Expert Insights session Sunday featuring Roland Buhl, an asthma specialist at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany.

The session examined the clinical benefits and long-term safety of omalizumab and the potential for biosimilars to broaden patient access. Speakers also discussed its use across different patient populations, including children and pregnant patients.

Omlyclo has entered 26 markets since its European launch last year. Its market share in Spain exceeded 90 percent as of July, while sales in Italy surpassed Celltrion’s initial targets, according to the company.

Celltrion plans to build on the interest generated at the congress by strengthening its academic, sales and marketing networks and encouraging wider adoption. It will also expand participation in public tenders through market-specific strategies and deepen engagement with healthcare institutions and medical professionals.

“Omlyclo has delivered meaningful results in Europe, and we saw strong interest in the product at the congress,” a Celltrion official said. “We will continue expanding our academic and marketing activities to establish Omlyclo as a key driver of our global portfolio.”

Celltrion will also attend the Global Urticaria Forum 2026 in Berlin, where it will highlight Omlyclo as a treatment for chronic spontaneous urticaria.
