Big Bang will mark the 20th anniversary of its debut with the release of a new digital single, “Biiig,” on Aug. 19, YG Entertainment announced Monday.
The single, set for release at 6 p.m. that day, will be the veteran group’s first new music since the digital single “Still Life,” released in April 2022.
YG unveiled a teaser poster for the release featuring silhouettes of the members against blue, red and yellow lights, along with the title “Biiig.” According to the agency, the title references the group’s name and reflects Big Bang’s identity and continued musical evolution as it celebrates two decades since its debut.
“‘Biiig’ is a song that most clearly represents where Big Bang stands today as it marks its 20th anniversary,” YG said in a press release. “Fans can look forward to another side of the group’s musical spectrum after years of building its own distinctive sound.”
To commemorate the milestone, Big Bang will also host a series of anniversary events at Jamsil in southern Seoul from Aug. 14 to 23.
The program will include a multimedia exhibition, photo zones, a merchandise store, lighting displays around Seokchon Lake and interactive installations inspired by the theme “Cosmos,” which also serves as the title of the group’s upcoming world tour.
A multimedia exhibition at Avenuel Art Hall will showcase archival footage from the group’s 20-year career, behind-the-scenes concert content and newly released photographs. A merchandise store will also open at Lotte World Mall, alongside limited-edition desserts created in collaboration with bakery brands.
Fans who visit the large interactive installation connecting Avenuel Jamsil and Lotte World Mall will be able to leave messages for the group, which will be displayed as part of a media art installation.
Special lighting installations modeled after Big Bang’s official light stick will illuminate Seokchon Lake, with a commemorative lighting ceremony scheduled for 8:19 p.m. on Aug. 19.
Following the release of “Biiig,” Big Bang will launch its world tour “XX: Cosmos” with three performances from Aug. 21 to 23 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The tour will continue across 19 cities with 33 performances spanning North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, with additional stops to be announced later.
