KRX donates W50m for financial education in Busan

The Korea Exchange has donated 50 million won ($36,100) to provide financial education for people with developmental disabilities in Busan.

KRX delivered the donation to Peach Market, an organization specializing in accessible education, at a welfare center in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, on Thursday.

The funding will support practical lessons on managing money and making financial decisions to help participants become more economically independent.

This year, professional instructors will visit 24 welfare centers and workplaces employing people with developmental disabilities across Busan. About 300 participants are expected to complete the eight-session program.

Representatives from the KRX Happy Foundation, Peach Market and the welfare center attended the donation ceremony.

KRX has offered tailored financial education to people with developmental disabilities since 2024, focusing on those who may have limited access to financial information. The program covers knowledge and skills that participants can apply in their daily lives.

“We hope this education will help people with developmental disabilities deepen their understanding of finance and make sound financial decisions,” KRX Chairman Jeong Eun-bo said.

“We will continue supporting efforts to ensure that no one is left behind financially and that more people can achieve stable economic independence.”
