2024 Seoul Summer Beach to open to public in Gwanghwamun Square later this month

A 40-meter-long swimming pool with two water slides will open to the public in Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul later this month, the city’s tourism promotion agency said Monday.

The “2024 Seoul Summer Beach” is set to open from July 26 until Aug. 11 in a size twice as big as that of last year to mark the second year of its hosting, the Seoul Tourism Organization said.

Two water slides in collaboration with Kakao Friends and a 40-meter-long swimming pool will be set up behind the statue of King Sejong the Great.

The swimming pool will be operated in five shifts a day, with up to 800 people allowed to join per term. A summer vacation zone where people can retreat from the heat will be available on the other side of the plaza.

Anyone can enter to win a priority entry ticket in a raffle on the agency’s website starting Monday, and the winners will be given an NFT ticket. (Yonhap)
