Lee Kang-in's match-winning strike named La Liga Goal of the Month

Lee Kang-in’s first goal for Atletico Madrid was named La Liga’s Goal of the Month for August.

The midfielder earned the honor for his match-winning goal against Malaga in the club’s season opener on Aug. 20, the Spanish League announced on Thursday.

With the two sides scoreless in the 70th minute, Lee picked up the ball near the right edge of the penalty area and curled a left-footed strike into the net.

Alex Baena added a second in the 85th minute, and Lee was named player of the match after capping his official Atletico debut with a standout performance.

“The match remained deadlocked until Lee Kang-in produced a moment of individual brilliance,” La Liga said.
