Actor Jang Dong-yoon will tie the knot with fellow actor Kim Seung-yoon.
BH Entertainment said Monday that the couple will marry in October. The two have been dating for a long time and will hold a small Christian wedding attended only by family, according to the agency.
Jang announced the marriage in a handwritten letter posted to social media on Tuesday.
“We have spent a lot of time together, getting to know each other’s different sides,” the 34-year-old actor wrote. “As we have come to understand and care for each other more, we decided to be by each other’s side and build a fun and happy life together.”
He added that he would “continue working to show my best as an actor and to become a more mature person.”
The announcement came as a surprise to fans, as the two had kept their relationship private.
Jang first drew public attention in 2015 as a college student in news reports for nabbing a robbery suspect at a convenience store in Seoul. He made his acting debut the following year in the web series “Game Development Girls.” He has since appeared in a range of television dramas and films, including “School 2017,” “The Tale of Nokdu,” “Oasis” and “Daily Dose of Sunshine.”
Kim, 28, made her acting debut in 2019 alongside Jang in “The Tale of Nokdu.” She went on to appear in the drama series “For Eagle Brothers” and director Hong Sang-soo’s film “In Water.”
Jang made his directorial debut with the 2023 short film “Please Be My Ear” and directed his first feature, “The Yeast,” in April. Kim starred in both films.
